A Pilots Self-Hosted Digital Logbook Backup and Stats
Note: This project is its initial concept phase
Purpose
The primary goal is to create a self-hosted digital backup and visualization tool for a pilot’s logbook. While tools like ForeFlight are essential for active flight management, I wanted a way to own and visualize my historical flight data.
This app is about backup and visualization. It aims to combine the utility of a logbook with the visual appeal of apps like Flighty, offering deep insights and a historical map of every mile flown.
Key Features
- Digital Logbook Backup: A secure, self-hosted database for all flight hours
- Universal Import: Seamlessly ingest data from industry standards like ForeFlight and Garmin, with options for manual entry.
- Interactive Flight Map: A “Flighty-style” historical view showing digital traces of all past flights on a global map.
- Deep Stats Dashboard:
- Standard: Currency tracking, total hours, landings.
- Fun: Total distance flown, most visited airports, longest flights, and “year in review” style metrics.
